Antenatal/Postnatal appointments

This is an invite-only service provided by midwives from both North Middlesex and Whittington Hospitals. We also host the MAIA team delivering Better Births.

Better Births, the national review of maternity services launched in 2016 is piloting models of care, with the objective to achieve continuity of care/carer, and personalising care and working across boundaries along with other aims.

If you would like to know more about Better Births, take a look at the National Maternity Review report which outlines a five year forward view for maternity care. This document will increasingly influence the way forward in maternity.

Health Visitor Team development checks

They are invite-only appointments where families join the Community Nursery Nurse from the Health Visiting Team to discuss their child’s developmental progress.

Silva, one of our EIOPs, regularly visits the Baby Clinic at Tynemouth Road, where you can weigh your baby every Wednesday form 10am-12pm. If you would like to know more about the services offered for you and your child by Tynemouth Medical Practice, you can do so here.

Baby Group

For new parents, we have our friendly and supportive baby group. Come along and meet other new parents and babies! This is for all babies (under 1 year old) in the area and their families: you and your child can play together, make new friends, speak to staff and access other services such as breastfeeding, introducing solid feeding, supporting your child’s sleeping, baby massage, etc.

We sometimes invite special guests – these include our Link Health Visitor (to talk about immunisations, sleeping patterns and feeding) and the Oral Health Practitioner. This service is free of charge.

Please see current timetable for more information regarding group timings

Stay and Play Groups

For children aged up to 5 years old and their parents/carers, we run stay and play groups twice a week. These offer a range of exciting opportunities for learning through play. Come and join us for messy play, water play, singing and reading, and exploring outdoors! This service is free of charge.

These sessions are also a good opportunity for you and your child to enjoy playtime together, make new friends, speak to our friendly team and access other services such as speech and language, support to access nursery, behaviour tips and advice, housing and many more.

Please see current timetable for more information regarding group timings
